From a US Marine Captain to Head of Customer Logistics in Flipkart – Dan Rawson!

Flipkart recently appointed three executives from top firms like Amazon, Google, eBay and Microsoft in the different realms of its organisation. The recent appointment of Customer Logistics and Supply Chain Ecosystems Dan Rawson, Director of Engineering – Accounting, Ravi Byakod and Head of Product Management for Digital Goods and Services Anand Lakshminarayanan has been confirmed recently.

Amongst them, Dan Rawson’s story is really optimistic and alluring. Born and brought up in the United States, Dan pursued his Bachelors of Arts from Harvard University and his Master’s in Business Administration from North Western University. He joined the Marine Corps and served the US Marines as a Public Affairs Officer for a period of 4 years. The important work of the officer was communication and planning – long-time planning for matters related to the Marines, researching and understanding the situation what people think about other things, listen, hear about how they execute it, perceive it, and then plan accordingly what to communicate, what and why things are done at the Marines effectively.

After working there for 4 years, Dan Rawson moved to Ryland as a Manager where his pivotal work was to manage the entitlement and delivery of lots to the construction department, evaluation of the financial potential of all the deals. Gaining potential experience from the contracts of the construction for 3 years, was promoted as the Director in Ryland where he moved the business to acquiring best market opportunities and charted the course through real estate.

Later he made the best of his fortuitous opportunities and grew up the ladder and moved to Dell as a Senior Manager for the mobile business opportunity for Dell and created strategies for mobile security and management. He led the company with strategy and business initiatives and successfully favoured a $14 billion business with the highest profit of all the Dell standings in the country. His colleagues have mentioned him as the motivator for the team, able to push to their limits to succeed with maximum risks and deliver the best in the work environment. After gaining resolute and complete understanding in Dell, he moved to Amazon as a Senior Manager for Product Management, Seattle wherein he aggrandised the efficiency of product fulfilment across the Amazon network. Procuring the information and understanding the best third party sellers and managing the market of Amazon by providing thousands of billions of dollars of products to the alcove of the world and maintaining the market high for online shopping has been his achievements as a General Manager.

Now he is the Head of the Customer Logistics and Supply Chain Ecosystems where he will be working with ex Google Head of Engineering Work Technology and Solutions team – Ravi Byakod, and Lakshminarayanan – ex Program Manager for Microsoft, Hyderabad.

Inevitably Flipkart has teamed up with the best of executives. Let’s see how things work for Flipkart in the near future with such gems.
